A Students’ Scientific Conference

 
On May 8 of the current year, at 12:00, the annual Students’ Scientific Conference was held at Tbilisi Theological Academy and Seminary.
The conference was dedicated to the memory of the outstanding scientist of TTAS, famous researcher of the Georgian language, Professor Leila Geguchadze. 
The tradition of establishing annual scientific conferences of students and professors at Tbilisi Theological Academy and Seminary is related to the name of Mrs. Leila Geguchadze. Over the years, she herself was the organizer and one of the participants of these important events. The Students’ Scientific Conference was opened by the Academic Secretary of TTAS, Doctor of Philology Khatuna Memanishvili.
The Rector of Tbilisi Theological Academy and Seminary, Doctor of Theology, Philology and Political Sciences, Professor, Protopresbyter Giorgi Zviadadze addressed the audience. He spoke about the importance of students’ conferences and, in general, the need for students’ active involvement in scientific and research activities.
The plenary session of the Students’ Conference was chaired by Irakli Esebua, a second-year student of the Theological Academy. 
Presented reports at the plenary session were:
1. Luka Simonishvili - the Issue of Recognizing the Autocephaly of the Church of Georgia – the Theological Seminary, a second-year student, the supervisor - Doctor of Historical Sciences and Theology, Professor Sergo Vardosaidze;
2. Dimitri Japaridze – The Church Teaching About the Star Revealed in the Hour of Christ’s Birth and Astrology – the Theological Academy, a first-year student, the supervisor – a doctoral student Elguja (Giorgi) Todua;
3. Abel Bogveradze – A Hymn and a Homily – the Theological Seminary, a first-year student, the supervisor - Doctor of Philology, Professor Lela Khachidze;
4. Irakli Esebua – Hymns Dedicated to Saint Euthymius the Athonite - the Theological Academy, a second-year student, the supervisor - Doctor of Philology, Professor Lela Khachidze;
At 13.30, the participants of the Students’ Scientific Conference continued their work in the sections of History, Anthropology and Architecture.
The section of History and Anthropology was headed by Jasmin Lomidze, a second-year student of the Faculty of Christian Psychology.
The following speakers presented their papers:
1. Jasmin Lomidze – The Lutheran Church in Georgia – a second-year student of the Faculty of Psychology, the supervisor - Doctor of History, Academician of Gelati Academy of Sciences, Professor Eldar Bubulashvili;
2. Irina Chukhtiashvili - The Center of Monasticism on Mount Athos – the Faculty of Christian Psychology, a first-year student, the supervisor - Doctor of Philology Ketevan Mamasakhlisi;
3. Nikoloz Gergedava – Information depicted by the Catholic Missionaries About the Selling of Captives in Western Georgia in the 17th Century – the Theological Seminary, a first-year student, the supervisor - Doctor of Historical Sciences and Theology, Professor Sergo Vardosanidze;
4. Lika Zhvania - Human Identity According to Theology and Psychology – the Faculty of Christian Psychology, a first-year student, the supervisor - Master of Theology Revaz Mujirishvili;
The work of the Section of Architecture was led by Nino Tsereteli, a fourth-year student of the Faculty of Ecclesiastical Architecture. The papers presented by the speakers were various and very interesting from the point of view of themes and content.

6. Shota Kukhalashvili - Windbreaks - the Faculty of Ecclesiastical Architecture, a fourth-year student, the supervisor - Doctor of Architecture Bela Tinikashvili;
7. Giorgi Gogberashvili – The Use of Alternative Energies in Architecture - the Faculty of Ecclesiastical Architecture, a fourth-year student, the supervisor - Doctor of Architecture Bela Tinikashvili;
8. Luka Kukhalashvili – The Bioclimatic Principles in Folk Architecture - the Faculty of Ecclesiastical Architecture, a fourth-year student, the supervisor - Doctor of Architecture Bela Tinikashvili; 
9. Tornike Datunashvili - The Bioclimatic Principles in Modern Architecture - the Faculty of Ecclesiastical Architecture, a fourth-year student, the supervisor - Doctor of Architecture Bela Tinikashvili.
