On May 19, students of the Tbilisi Theological Academy and Seminary attended off-site lecture seminars in the Kutaisi and Gaenati Diocese. This educational and informative event is held annually with the blessing of the Rector of the Tbilisi Theological Academy and Seminary, Protosyngellos Giorgi Zviadadze, and is organized by Professor Sergo Vardosanidze, Head of the Department of History of Georgia.

Students of the Seminary, the Faculty of Christian Psychology, and the Faculty of Christian Art Theory and History visited and paid homage to the Bagrati Cathedral, the Gelati and Motsameta Monasteries, and St. George’s Church in Kutaisi.

On their way to Kutaisi, the participants of the excursion also visited the Ubisa Monastery and viewed the unique wall paintings of the Church of St. George in Ubisa.

Based on previously prepared materials, several students spoke to their fellow participants about the history, architecture, and wall paintings of the above-mentioned cultural monuments.

At Bagrati Cathedral, the guests were specially welcomed by Professor Lasha Deisadze-Sharvashidze of Kutaisi State University, Doctor of History, who further familiarized the students with the history and landmarks of the Kutaisi and Gaenati Diocese.
