A Prayer Service for the Beginning of the New Academic Year

On September 15, studies began at the Tbilisi Theological Academy and Seminary.
In connection with the start of the new academic year, the Rector of the Tbilisi Theological Academy and Seminary - Doctor of Philology, Theology, and Political Sciences, Professor, Protosyngellos Giorgi Zviadadze - offered a Moleben service at the Sioni Cathedral.
The service was attended by the professors, teachers and students of the institution, and members of the Sioni parish.

Alongside the cathedral clergy, those from the theological school concelebrated the service.

At the end of the service, Protosyngellos Giorgi Zviadadze addressed the gathered audience with a sermon. He congratulated them on the beginning of the new academic year, gave his blessing, and reminded them of the great responsibility that each of them bears. Father Giorgi once again highlighted the merits of the Catholicos Patriarch of All Georgia, His Holiness and Beatitude Ilia II, and his immeasurable contribution to the nation and the Church.

“It is very important that each of us deeply understands our responsibility and is able to live and serve in a way that is pleasing to God. His Holiness, the Patriarch, is a profound example for us. Through his efforts, higher theological schools and seminaries were established in Georgia, secular higher education institutions were founded, and the science of theology was revived. The work of His Holiness and Beatitude made possible the restoration of the Holy Orthodox Church of Georgia, and the work of each of you can further enhance the quality of this Church. May it be God’s will that, through the efforts of the professors, teachers, clergy trained within our walls, and students of our institution, the growth and revival of our Church may continue unhindered under the leadership of His Holiness, the Patriarch. May God grant you all health and goodness. May He, through mutual love, enable us to ensure that within the walls of the Theological Academy and Seminary, true faith and true knowledge prevail. May it be God’s will that the saving faith and saving knowledge, the immutable Law of God entrusted to the Holy Church spread from this institution throughout our God-loving nation,” said the Rector.

Father Giorgi expressed his gratitude to the clergy, professors, teachers, and staff serving at the Theological Academy and Seminary. He also offered special thanks to every clergyman serving in Georgia who faithfully contributes to the growth of the Orthodox Church.

The Rector wished His Holiness, the Patriarch, many more years of good health.
