On June 26, 2025, at the Tbilisi Theological Academy and Seminary, the defense of bachelor’s thesis was held for the students of the Faculty of Ecclesiastical Architecture, Icon Painting, Restoration of Easel and Monumental Icon Painting, specifically for the Bachelor’s program in Ecclesiastical Architecture. Ioane Lortkipanidze and Giorgi Chkhoidze jointly presented their diploma thesis to the audience. The topic of the first part of the work, featuring monastic life, was “The Monastic Complex in Dzalaant Khevi”, and the second one, representing the secular theme, was “Harmonizing Relationships Between Vulnerable Children and the Elderly.” Supervisors: Medea Melkadze, Doctor of Architecture and Nana Abramia, Master of Architecture.
The students presented the design plan and model of a monastic complex and a space intended to foster harmonious relationships between children without care and the elderly. They convincingly explained the relevance of the project and outlined every nuance of the plan. The Bachelor’s Theses Evaluation Committee, chaired by Archpriest Besarion Menabde, Head of the Program of Ecclesiastical Archtecture, approved this innovation. It will enrich the lives of many adolescents and elderly people. The supervisor of the thesis, Mrs. Medea Melkadze noted that the idea of such cohabitation between youth and the elderly is entirely new not only for our country but also on a global scale.
The committee composed of the following members evaluated the thesis: Dean of the Faculty of Architecture, Iconography, and Restoration of Easel and Monumental Iconography, Archpriest Ioseb Vanidze; Professor Murad Tqhemaladze, Doctor of Geology; Professor Gvantsa Koplatadze, Doctor of Philology, and Nikoloz Abashidze, Doctor of Architecture.
The committee awarded the thesis the highest mark. Ioane Lortkipanidze and Giorgi Chkhoidze were conferred the academic degree of Bachelor of Architecture.
The defense of the thesis was attended by the institution’s professors, teachers and students.
