Defense of Bachelor's Theses

On June 24, 2025, Bachelors theses were defended at the Tbilisi Theological Academy and Seminary by students of the faculties of Seminary, Church Architecture, Icongoraphy, Restoration of Easel and Monumental Iconography, and Christian Art Theory and History.

The following students from the Faculty of Seminary appeared before the Committee:

Giorgi Tortladze presented the topic Teaching about the Two Natures of the Savior According to Hymnographic Texts (supervisor: Master of Theology Giorgi Metreveli; reviewer - Doctor of Theology and Philology, Archpriest Bidzina Gunia);

Bakur Tirkia presented the topic The Interrelation of works and Faith According to the Epistles of Saint James and Saint Paul the Apostles (supervisor: Revaz Mujirishvili, Master of Theology; reviewer: Doctor of Theology and Philology, Archpriest Michael Galdava);

Gabriel Navrozashvili presented the topic The Holy Prophets Elijah and Enoch and Their Work Before the End of Times (supervisor: Doctor of Theology Irakli Orzhonia; reviewer: Master of Theology David Mujirishvili);

Giorgi Lortkipanidze presented the topic Ecclesiastical Exegesis of the Ten Plagues Executed in Egypt (supervisor: Doctor of Theology Irakli Orzhonia; reviewer: Master of Theology, Priest Simeon Datukishvili).

The session was chaired by the Dean, Priest Giorgi Vashalomidze, Master of Theology. In addition to students, the defense of the theses was attended by the members of the Bachelor’s theses Commission, professors, supervisors and reviewers: Archdeacon Demetre (Davitashvili), Doctor of Theology; Archpriest Giorgi Gugushvili, Doctor of Theology; Archpriest Michael Galdava, Doctor of Theology and Philology; Archpriest Bidzina Gunia, Doctor of Theology and Philology; Vice-Rector for the Academic Affairs, Doctor of Theology Rati Sturua; Professor Sergo Vardosanidze, Doctor of Historical Sciences and Theology; Doctor of Theology Irakli Orzhonia, Doctor of History Grigol Khachapuridze, Priest Giorgi Janjghava, Master of Theology; Doctor of History Durmishkhan Lashkhi, Masters of Theology Giorgi Metreveli and Revaz Mujiri.

Based on the Committee’s evaluation and conclusion, the aforementioned students were awarded the academic degree of Bachelor of Theology.

 Saba Tsotsoria and Zurab Eradze, students enrolled in the Bachelor’s Program at the faculties of Church Architecture, presented their Bachelor’s theses on the topic – “The Annunciation” (supervisor: painter-restorer Zaza Sumbadze, Master of Art Studies, Assistant of the Head of the Department of Iconography and Restoration of Easel and Monumental Iconography and  teacher of iconography - Mikheil Beridze).

The Evaluation Committee for the Bachelor’s Theses - Chairman: Professor Merab Buchukuri, Head of the study of Restoration of Monumental Iconography; Members: Archpriest Ioseb Vanidze, Dean of the Faculty; Professor Murad Tkemaladze, Doctor of Geology, Professor Gvantsa Koplatadze, Doctor of Philological Sciences – awarded the highest marks to the theses presented by Saba Tsotsoria and Zurab Eradze and granted them the academic degree of Bachelor in Restoration of Artworks.

The meeting was attended by the Vice-Rector for Academic and Administrative Affairs of TTAS, Doctor of History, Archpriest Besarion Tsintsadze, professors, teachers and students.

Manana Tsenteradze, a student of the Faculty of Christian Art Theory and History, defended her Bachelor’s thesis on the topic: The Sevior’s Church in Upper Speti (supervisor: Rusudan Vashalomidze, Head of the Department of Christian Art Studies; reviewer: Doctor of Art Studies Giorgi Marsagishvili).

The session was chaired by Tea Bezhashvili, Dean of the Faculty of Christian Art Theory and History, and was attended by the members of the Bachelor’s Theses Committee: Archpriest Bidzina Gunia, Academic Secretary of the Dissertation Council of the Tbilisi Theological Academy and Seminary, Academician of the Gelati Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Theology and Philology, Professor; and Professor Eldar Bubulashvili, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Academician of the Gelati Academy of Sciences.

 

Manana Tsenteradze was awarded the academic degree of Bachelor of Humanities in the History and Theory of Art.
