A Students’ Scientific Conference

On May 7 of 2025, at Tbilisi Theological Academy and Seminary, the Students’ Annual Scientific Conference was opened with a plenary session. The conference is one of the best opportunities for the teachers and students to work together, one of the best ways for the students to attain self-realization and demonstrate skills and habits they have acquired for their enrollment in scientific and creative work. The conference will last for 2 days and students from almost all the faculties of TTAS will participate in it.

The plenary session was opened by the Rector of Tbilisi Theological Academy and Seminary, Doctor of Theology, Philology and Political Sciences, Professor, Protopresbyter Giorgi Zviadadze.

He spoke about the mission of the higher theological school – Tbilisi Theological Academy and Seminary. At our school, the students should not only receive systemic and academic education and attain their perfection in their professional fields, but primarily, they should excel spiritually. For an educated person, study is a never-ending process, just as education and perfection in terms of virtues is for a human being, - said Protopresbyter Giorgi Zviadadze.

The Chairman of the plenary session was Davit Sakhelashvili, a second-year student of the Theological Academy. The following students presented their talks to the audience:

1. Deacon Genadi Tlashadze (the Theological Academy, a third-year student) – On the Deliberate Concealment of the Name of the Catholicos of Kartli Kirion by Arsen of Iqhalto.

2. Nikoloz Gergedava (the Theological Seminary, a third-year student) - Western Georgia in the Notes of Arcangelo Lamberti; the supervisor - Doctor of Historical Sciences and Theology, Professor Sergo Vardosanidze.

3. Davit Sakhelashvili (the Theological Academy, a second-year student) – The Doctrine on the Creation of Adam and the Divine Providence of Salvation of Mankind According to Texts on Hymnody; the supervisor - Doctor of Philology and Theology, Academician in Gelati Academy of Sciences, Professor, Archpriest Bidzina Gunia.

The speakers comprehensively answered the questions of the audience. An interesting discussion took place at the end of the session, and the teachers and students expressed significant opinions regarding the speeches.
