On April 30, with the blessing of His Holiness and Beatitude, Catholicos Patriarch of All Georgia, Ilia II, the annual scientific conference of professors and students was opened at Tbilisi Theological Academy and Seminary. The conference will last for three days, summarizing the scientific and research activities carried out by the professors, teachers and students throughout the year.
The plenary session of the conference started with a welcoming speech given by the Rector of Tbilisi Theological Academy and Seminary, Doctor of Theology, Philology and Political Sciences, Professor, Protopresbyter Giorgi Zviadadze. He spoke about the special importance of scientific conferences in the educational sphere of the Academy and Seminary and the educational activities led by the Patriarch.
The plenary session was chaired by Doctor of Philology Khatuna Kalandarishvili.
The following participants gave their talks at the session:
1. Doctor of History and Theology, Professor, Metropolitan Anania Japaridze - The Issue of the Localization of the Diocese of Alania;
2. Doctor of Philology and Theology, Academician of Gelati Academy of Sciences, Professor, Archpriest Bidzina Gunia – I Heard Your Voice, O Lord, and Was Afraid...
3. Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor Lela Khachidze – A Book of Akathists and Its translated Version Done by Saint Giorgi the Athonite;
4. Doctor of Historical Sciences and Theology, Professor Sergo Vardosanidze - From the History of the Relationship Between the Russian “Obnovlentsi” and Georgian Renovationist in the 20s and 30s of the 20th Century.
The speeches were appreciated highly by the audience, and an interesting discussion took place. Significant opinions and assessments were expressed by the member of the Department of Georgian Language and Literature of TTAS, Doctor of Philology, Academician Avtandil Arabuli; Doctor of Philology, Professor Guram Benashvili; Doctor of Philology and Theology, Professor Edisher Chelidze.
The plenary session was attended by the professors and students of the Theological Academy and Seminary.
