Department of History of Georgia

The Department of History of Georgia delivers courses of History of Georgia, World History, History of the Church of Georgia, General History of Churches and Byzantinology.
Due to the specifications of these courses, the core themes of the delivered subjects are: relations between the Church and the state, religious and confessional problematics, the process of formation of Georgian national awareness in the Middle Ages and delineation of the role of the Orthodox Church of Georgia in it. The head of the department is PhD of History and Theology, Professor Sergo Vardosanidze.
