Bachelor's Thesis Defenses

On 23-24 June, the Tbilisi Theological Academy and Seminary hosted the defense of bachelor’s theses by students of the Faculty of Christian Art History and Theory and the Faculty of Christian Psychology.

The student of the Faculty of Christian Art History, Malkhaz Gorozia, successfully defended his bachelor's thesis entitled “The Iconography of the Annunciation of the Most Holy Theotokos in Orthodox and Western European Art.”  The thesis was supervised by Professor Nana Burchuladze, Doctor of Art History. The reviewer was Nino Giorgobiani, Master of Art History.

The thesis was submitted to fulfill the requirements for the Bachelor’s degree in Iconography. The Bachelors Thesis Defense Committee was chaired by Mariam Didbulidze, Doctor of Art History. The members of the committee were: Archpriest Besarion Tsintsadze, Vice-Rector for Academic and Administrative Affairs, Doctor of History; Tea Bezhuashvili, Dean of the Faculty of Art History; Rusudan Vashalomidze, Head of the Department of Art History; Vazha Gigauri, Assistant to the Head of the Department of Art History, Doctor of Pedagogy; Asmat Okropiridze, Doctor of Art History; Nino Chichilidze, Doctor of Art History. The committee members gave a positive evaluation of the diploma thesis presented by Malkhaz Gorozia, and he was awarded the academic degree of Bachelor of Iconography.

On 24 June, students of the Faculty of Christian Psychology defended their qualification theses. The defense committee was chaired by Khatia Tsiklauri, Doctor of Psychology. The members of the committee were: Sopiko Gogochashvili, Master of Psychology; Gvantsa Gugeshashvili, Master of Psychology; Monika Koberidze, Master of Psychology; and Natia Pruidze, Master of Psychology.

The following students defended their bachelor’s theses:

1.Irine Chukhtishvili - “The Relationship Between Depression and Social Isolation: Risk Factors, Psychological Outcomes, and Prevention.”

Supervisor: Salome Sabiashvili, Doctor of Social Sciences. Reviewer: Lela Tkeshelashvili, Doctor of Social Sciences.

2. Nino Tsalani - “The Impact of Long-Term Hospitalization on a Person’s Emotional State.”

Supervisor: Salome Sabiashvili, Doctor of Social Sciences. Reviewer: Gvantsa Gugeshashvili, Master of Psychology.

3.Tamar Komladze – “Trait Anxiety and Self-Esteem”.

Supervisor: Dr. Salome Sabiashvili, Doctor of Social Sciences.
Reviewer: Natia Pruidze, Master of Psychology.

4.Giorgi Mchedlishvili – “Social Competence in Conflict Management: Psycho-Social and Ethical Aspects of Interpersonal Relationships”.

Supervisor: Dr. Lana Sulkhanishvili, Doctor of Psychology.
Reviewer: Lela Tkeshelashvili, Doctor of Social Sciences.

5.Rusudan Bogveradze – “Psychological Aspects of Students’ Social Adaptation in the School Environment”.

Supervisor: Monika Koberidze, Master of Psychology.
Reviewer: Dr. Salome Sabiashvili, Doctor of Social Sciences.

The members of the Evaluation Committee for the Bachelor’s Theses in Christian Psychology positively assessed the theses presented by the graduating students, and each graduate was awarded the academic degree of Bachelor of Psychology.

The defense of the Bachelor’s theses of the Faculty of Christian Psychology was attended by the Rector of the Tbilisi Theological Academy and Seminary, Protosyngellos Giorgi Zviadadze, Doctor of Philology, Theology, and Political Sciences; Vice-Rector for Academic and Administrative Affairs, Archpriest Besarion Tsintsadze, Doctor of History; Vice-Rector for Research activities, Rati Sturua, Doctor of Theology; Dean of the Faculty of Christian Psychology of the Tbilisi Theological Academy and Seminary, Grigol Khachapuridze, Doctor of History; representative of the Quality Assurance Office, Natela Kapanadze, Doctor of History; as well as faculty members and students.
