On November 27, 2025, at the initiative of Grigol Khachapuridze, Doctor of History, Dean of the Department of Christian Psychology at the Tbilisi Theological Academy and Seminary, a field lecture was organized in the Bolnisi Eparchy. The students visited the Bolnisi Sioni Temple, the Tsughrughasheni monastic complexes dedicated to Saint George and the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul. They also visited the House-Museum of Sulkhan-Saba Orbeliani.
In the Bolnisi Sioni Temple, Father Shio Bokeria served an Akathist of Supplication and offered a blessing to the students of this institution.
In the courtyard of the mentioned church, Ketevan Mamasakhlisi, Doctor of Philology, delivered a lecture on the special role of this most ancient region in the history of our country and Church. She showed the students the oldest inscriptions carved on the walls of the church and spoke about their history, significance and dates. She also discussed the historical figures mentioned in the inscriptions as well as examples of Khanmeti texts. In addition, she spoke about the life and homiletic works of the great Father Ioane of Bolnisi, a hymnographer who lived and worked there.
In the village of Tandzia, the students became acquainted with the archival material kept in the house-museum of Sulkhan-Saba.
The event was dedicated to the 1700th anniversary of the declaration of Christianity as the state religion.
