On the Path of Practical Psychology

On November 5, a public lecture was delivered at the Tbilisi Theological Academy and Seminary by Temur Samkharadze, a graduate of our Faculty of Christian Psychology and a practicing psychoconsultant. The topic of the lecture was “On the Path of Practical Psychology.”

Mr. Temur Samkharadze is a member of the American Psychological Association (APA), a practitioner of integrative psychotherapy, a member of the Georgian Psycho-Oncology Society, an art therapist, and a trainer. He currently works as a psychologist in the Department of Resocialization and Rehabilitation of the Special Penitentiary Service.

The speaker discussed the vital role of psychology in practical work and shared many interesting examples from his personal experience. He emphasized that psychotherapy tends to be far more effective when working with individuals who have faith in God.

This year, Temur Samkharadze’s book “Trace” (A Self-Development Journal) was published. The author, together with his mother and wife, dedicated the book to his teacher at the Tbilisi Theological Academy and Seminary, Ms. Nana Gogichashvili, who also served as the book’s reviewer.

The book is not intended merely for reading — it is designed to help readers work on themselves, uncover hidden emotions, and discover the path toward emotional healing. The specially developed exercises and elements of psychotherapeutic interventions presented in the book guide readers in becoming their own psychotherapists.

The guest fondly recalled his student years and expressed gratitude to our institution, which, as he noted, provided him not only with an education but also with a home. Mr. Temur Samkharadze had lived in the seminary’s dormitory. He presented copies of his book as a gift to the seminary’s library and students.

The meeting was attended by students and faculty members of the Tbilisi Theological Academy and Seminary. The lecture proved to be truly engaging, especially for the students of the Faculty of Christian Psychology.
