The Department of Christian Art History and Theory

 
The goal of the Department of Christian Art History and Theory is to focus its attention on bringing up specialists of Church Art on the basis of theological knowledge. The program that had been worked out by the department includes both a wide range educational teaching in the main fields of Old and Modern Art and the teaching of the subjects aiming at narrow specialization. The teaching of Georgian Christian Art, its development and peculiarities are specially emphasized.

The faculty of Icon Painting, embroidery, tissue artistic processing workshops are functioning under the Faculty of Christian Art History and Theory, where students are given an opportunity to study the oldest technologies of Icon Painting and gold thread embroidery, students from the faculty of Christian Architecture, Icon Painting, restoration of Easel and Monumental Icon Painting exhibit their works of Art (2012).
